ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Dave. I am one of the main people behind Saved By The Cents.
MY BULLET POINTS:
- My wife and I became financially independent by age 35.
- My wife and I have four young daughters under the age of 7.
- I am a Dave Ramsey reformer, not a purist.
- I would say that my faith in God is extremely important to me.
- I was the California High School State Chess Champion in 2004.
- I helped start a tech start-up in 2018 helping people get out of debt cheaper, easier and faster. It’s my full time job, and I am shocked that a company I started actually makes money.
- One of my favorite hobbies is investing in other start ups.
I grew up in a small town in central California. At a young age, I saw firsthand how debt can cause stress in my parents’ relationship. They were young first-generation Christians who started a family but didn’t receive such skills as how to manage finances in a relationship or how to efficiently pay down debt. They came into marriage with different views of money and different ways they managed money.
My parents’ Debt created a tunnel vision in their relationship. Most arguments seemed to be about money. I became extremely passionate to help others (like my parents) get out of debt and stay out of debt, for good.
When I moved to East Africa, I learned that life is not all about profits, so I have been exploring this goal of financial stewardship in my own life.

I know Dave Ramsey may come off as silly, but I do like some of the principles he’s shared over the years while I would also update his views to help you more.
